Monterey cypress are remarkable evergreens that thrive along the rugged coast of California, embodying a striking blend of resilience and beauty. Characterized by their twisted, windswept branches and dense foliage, these trees can live for hundreds of years, often standing as living monuments to the region’s history. As the tree matures, it develops a more irregular, spreading form, with strong winds sculpting its growth. Over time, its trunk can become thick, twisted, and gnarled, enhancing its dramatic appearance and creating a picturesque silhouette against an oceanic backdrop of crashing waves.

The Monterey cypress is an iconic species of the Central Pacific Coast. This particular piece has been named in honor of its place of origin — Pescadero, California.

Pescadero is an original relief print on Japanese rice paper, mounted to canvas and surrounded by a black floater frame.
